A series of Webinars by Thimmiah
Gurunatha

The webinar series helps focus on specific activities that we as professionals can do to become valuable now and in the future.

Series 1 - duration 3 hours

Seminar 19: Overview of How to Effectively Implement DFR & DFSS in a Systems Engineering Environment

Over view of "How to Effectively Implement DFR and DFSS in a Systems Engineering Environment"

Why should you take this course? Wayne Gretzky - National Hockey Leagues all time Leading Scorer at age 28 said his secret is "I go where the Puck is going to be, not where the puck is." Come and learn the methods of the future.

What should you, as a modern reliability engineer, be doing to become more valuable to your company and be better integrated into key projects?

Doing what you have always been doing will only achieve the same results as the past. Do you wish to be part of the past or the future where you work? The webinar series help focus on specific activities that we as professionals can do to become valuable now and in the future.

The webinar will focus on some of the areas of greatest need (reduce cost of product and process development) for international companies and express the best way to integrate DFSS, DFR in systems Engineering environment. The process was successfully piloted at a large Blue chip company. It includes a overview of powerful Accelerated testing called Thunder and Lightning Accelerated Testing (TALAT) at Component, Sub System and Full System level.

Series 2 - duration 3 hours

Seminar 20. Thunder and Lightning Accelerated Testing (TALAT) in a Systems Engineering Environment

Why should you take this course?
Testing and validation costs up to 70% of the product development cost in some companies. It consumes majority of time in product development. In spite of it, prediction accuracy is low!!! Come and learn proven method used at Xerox by the trainer for 32 years. Low cost small sample size, equal to or better accuracy in life prediction by traditional methods.

Detailed training on how to conduct TALAT at Component, Sub System, and Full System level. Instructor will show you how to do Head to Head test to project life accurately in a Accelerated Test with very low sample size. Instructor will share real life examples of application in a blue chip company.

Bring your live test challenges . You will be able to design a test plan with Subject Matter Expert. This is a highly interactive session to maximize the benefit. You will get to meet other people and develop an on going network for future benefits.

The Instructor:

Thim has a bachelor 's degree in Mechanical Engineering (from University College of Engineering, Karnataka, India (1968) and a master 's degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Wayne State University (1972), He worked for General Motors; Wayne State University at Detroit, Michigan; and Olivetti in Toronto, Canada; and then joined Xerox Corporation in 1977. After 32 years of service at Xerox, Thim has started a company Warranty Warriors Guru. Since then, he has been a practicing Six-Sigma Quality and Reliability engineering in design, manufacturing, and testing processes. While at Xerox, he developed, copyrighted, and introduced worldwide, his RAINBOW SPC and Rainbow Reliability Chart process. He was a Principal Engineer and a Master Black Belt(LSS,DFSS, DFR) at Xerox when he retired in 2008. He has received numerous awards, such as Individual Excellence Award, by Xerox Corporation (1986, Canada),Team Excellence Award, by Xerox Corporation (1992, USA), Highest level McDermond Award for Management of Reliability Division, by (ASQ), American Society for Quality for the years 2000 and 2001, Six Sigma Master Black Belt Plaque at Annual Quality Congress in Denver Colorado , May 2002 and Outstanding Achievement Award given at R and M Symposium-Seattle, Washington on January 30, 2002. Excellence in Oral Presentation, by (SAE) Society of Automotive Engineers at SAE conference in Detroit.

Thim was one of seven instructors selected to teach Six Sigma classes for ASQ (American Society for Quality) when it started in 1999. Thim served ASQ for over 5 years teaching all around the world and many States of USA.

He has served clients in many countries: Brazil, Canada, China, England, Finland, France, Holland, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Mexico, Taiwan, Egypt, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Dubai, Mexico and many states of USA. Thim was section editor for the November 2010 issue of International Journal for Performability Engineering. Live examples of DFR,DFSS,LSS applications are documented to help every Design, Chief engineer, plant manager, and operations mangers to see the benefits of these processes and tools.

Thim has written a e-book "How to Effectively Implement DFR and DFSS in a Systems Engineering Environment - 2011"

Thim 's current goal is to bring all the experience to everyone interested to change to eliminate Warranty cost. Thim also certifies in Six Sigma (Yellow Belt, Black Belt, Master Black Belt) by reviewing your knowledge level. You can avoid unnecessary cost of taking courses in subjects you already know and are practicing effectively. Variable cost based on the country Contact Thim for your specific needs.
